Surah An Nahl Ayat 98-99-100 Translation Tafseer

Para 14 - رُبَمَا

سورة النحل

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

16.98-99-100

فَاِذَا قَرَاْتَ الْقُرْاٰنَ فَاسْتَعِذْ بِاللّٰهِ مِنَ الشَّیْطٰنِ الرَّجِیْمِ(98) اِنَّهٗ لَیْسَ لَهٗ سُلْطٰنٌ عَلَى الَّذِیْنَ اٰمَنُوْا وَ عَلٰى رَبِّهِمْ یَتَوَكَّلُوْنَ(99) اِنَّمَا سُلْطٰنُهٗ عَلَى الَّذِیْنَ یَتَوَلَّوْنَهٗ وَ الَّذِیْنَ هُمْ بِهٖ مُشْرِكُوْنَ۠ (100)

Kanz-ul-Irfan

So when you begin to recite the Quran, seek refuge with Allah from the accursed Satan.[1] He has no power over those who believe and place their trust in their Lord. His power is over those who befriend him, and those who make him a partner ˹of Allah˺.[1]

Commentary

We are encouraged (i.e., it is mustaḥabb) to recite “اَعُوْذُ بِاللّٰہِ مِنَ الشَّیْطٰنِ الرَّجِیْم” before reciting the Quran.

From this, we come to know that Satan does not force or compel anybody, rather, the one who inclines towards him himself and takes him as a friend is the one who is affected by him.
